VIKING was successfully used in a two-week PhD course “Gene Targeting and Editing” by Prof. Eric Paul Bennett at the University of Copenhagen (KU) from 19th to the 30th of August 2019.
The course took the participants through a theoretical and practical introduction to mammalian cellular gene targeting technologies such as RNAi silencing and splicing modulation at the mRNA level and genome editing technologies based on Zinc Finger Nucleases (ZFN’s). The students gained hands-on experience with anti-sense, CRISPR/Cas9 in bacteria, CRISPR/Cas9, ZFN and TALEN in mammalian cells and learned how to design and perform Gene Targeting experiments and analyze the results using ProfileIt™, a module in VIKING.
